I'm not going to say much about this, frankly because it is so disturbing.
A whole bunch of self-motivated perverts get a political party in the Netherlands? 'Tis a sad day for that country.
this post is all about me
Nothing about New York in this post. I don't live there and this isn't
Gothamist.
I started my summer classes today. I've just started my first of two classes, Public Administration. This class is for five weeks, four days a week, (three something just for luck?), and two hours a day. I've never had this professor before but he does teach a lot of courses. This is my first class where the professor can say "See you tomorrow" -- I've never had the same class two days in a row.

After I got home and ate my McDonalds Chicken McNuggets, I began a nearly five hour mission to clean my car. I did take a lot of breaks though, so it was probably only a three hour job. Three washes, two power washes, two waxes, and them some detailing.
After I was done I took some thirty pictures. I always get mad at myself for: a) never having a good photo of my car; b) never taking a good photo of my car when I have the chance; and c) always having a good picture that has something wrong with it. So I took a whole bunch, I figure if I get two good shots out of it, I'm set. I think I ended up with three or four good shots. Possibly tomorrow, if it is brighter out, I shall take some more.
Maybe on Thursday I can go to the track and get some times in. And then hit up Geno's Steaks afterwards! "Tubgirl" sandwich as
Duncan calls it.
Open 24/365 the subterranean Apple Store on famous Fifth Avenue in Manhattan opened Friday at 6pm. The entrance to the store is a giant glass cube which includes a glass elevator and glass stairway. No you perverts! The glass is frosted in the premium upskirt locations. Who wants to see up Apple geeks' skirts anyway? ... Ok -- me, sorry.
Located in the same plaza as
F.A.O. Schwarz, Apple was required by the City of New York to rejuvenate the entire plaza and not just the new store entrance. The plaza now includes a fountain and a whole lot of concrete slabs. Sounds exciting. Free Wi-Fi is offered by the store to the entire plaza.
The store had 5,000 applications for jobs even when a majority of them didn't know where the store would be. Between all of the applicants that were actually hired, they speak 20 different languages. I can't even think of twenty. I'm sure they're all fluent in "Better-than-you-cause-I-have-an-Apple-speak".
I do have to give it to them, I do like the cube entrance, elevator, and stairway. And I certainly can't bash anything that's open twenty-four hours a day. Whats a man to do at 3:30am when his iPod breaks?
Two days ago, a Philadelphia police officer was
fatally shot and killed while responding to a call for the first time since 1996. Officer Gary Skerski, 16-year police veteran, was shot in the neck by an unknown subject while responding to a robbery at Pat's Cafe bar in Northeast Philadelphia. There is currently a $125,000 reward for information leading to the capture and conviction of this subject. Murder during the course of a robbery is a crime punishable by death. The last person to be executed in the State of Pennsylvania was in 1999.
Officer Gary Skerski was working an overtime shift for
Operation Safer Streets.

Just this past Wednesday, construction of the new Freedom Tower in lower Manhattan
has officially begun. The site of the old WTC 6 building is where they are currently building footings for the 1,776 Ft tall skyscraper. The height of the tower a tribute to the year of the singing of the
Declaration of Independence. The placement of the tower in WTC 6's footprint allows for such proposed plans as Twin Towers 2, which calls for the towers to be rebuilt.
The most recent bout of delays was from security concerns raised by the NYPD, particularly in response to the possibilities of car bombs. I can't possibly imagine how they will make the lower 100 Ft or so of this building look attractive without windows and with extremely thick walls. Only time can tell. This will be a fantastic addition to the Manhattan Skyline - it will make for a very modern looking city.
Viewed from some angles the tower will look rectangular to recognize the Twin Towers, viewed from other angles it will look obelisk. I find the design fantastic and the spire is amazing. Although I do believe it should be taller, I can understand the reason for it staying at 1,776 Ft. If they do come around to re-building the Twin Towers, they should make them appear the same, yet modernized. Building them taller than the previous towers by one foot for every victim from September 11th should also be done. Show the world that not only can we overcome, but we'll come back bigger and better than ever.
