Happy Holidays everyone! I hope you all had a great Christmas and will have a wonderful New Year. I'm still waiting for snow over here, but here is my dog from last year.

One of my favorite things about photography is that photographic errors are art in itself, and often introduced deliberately. Take this for example,
noise,
vignetting, and the poor range of color. They all add together to create this mysterious yet soothing and calm feel to this image. Love it!

I say YES to Video on flickr. I love the quality of the video, and as long as we're only posting artful videos, its cool with me. I'm not looking to see vlogs or copies of South Park clips, which I know will be left as YouTube's business. Below are a few examples of the quality on Flickr.

I don't even know where to find a place that looks like this, let alone know how to shoot it so well. I would literally have sex with this picture if the rocks weren't under exposed in spots.
Great work Bryn.

Here is what I eat nearly every day. When I work at the store in Mt Laurel, NJ, I go to the Chick-Fil-A in the parking lot of the store. In the box are 8 chicken nuggets, in the bag is a chicken sandwich (which I usually don't get at the same time as the nuggets). I get some good buffalo sauce and their great waffle fries, too. Then I wash it down with a Dr. Pepper! I took this photo myself.

This is the last flickr friday before I head to NYC for the day on Thursday! I can't wait! I am going to make every effort to have this coming Friday be a photo from me and my new camera! The glow you see in the center is, of course, Times Square. You can get off the train at any hour of the day, head to street level, and just be amazed at how bright everything is. It is one of the few places in the US that require flashy signs, lights, and graphics as part of the zoning ordinances.

flickr friday: autumn flood
Here is a very interesting exposure of a river just bursting with some fresh rainfall from upstream. I almost can't believe that this is an exposure and not some fancy Photoshopping. We just had a Nor'Easter here which brought a long period of rain but not all that exciting of downpours or rainfall amounts. Fall is really starting to show now. My favorite ski area's trees are noticably changing and should be in full color in the coming weeks like the trees shown in this photo.

Two for one today since I was late. Here is an amazing shot (pre rendered or not?) from the upcoming XBOX 360 game Rainbow Six: Vegas. It looks seriously awesome. All events during the game take place within the same 24 hour span (maybe the success of a certain aptly named TV show has something to do with this).

flickr friday: phenomenal train
This here is a prop used for the promotion of the proposed
Magnetic Levitation train to be built in
Munich, Bavaria. The
Transrapid trains obtain 265mph (430kph) in passenger service and can reach higher speeds on those same passenger lines. This YouTube video shows a fantastic (and sweetly short!)
demonstration video of Transrapid's test facility in Emsland, Germany. Unfortunately, earlier this week, the train at this test facility crashed into a maintenance vehicle that was not integrated into the line's safety systems. An incident such as this is believed to be impossible in revenue service as such a vehicle would be integrated into safety systems.
There is also a Transrapid in Shanghai, China. The entire system is amazingly beautiful and futuristic. Honestly, I don't think you can get more modern than this train. There are quite a few more good YouTube videos
here,
here,
here, and
here.

flickr friday: tribute in light
Just the past Monday was, as I'm sure everyone knows, the anniversary of the attacks on New York and Washington DC. NYC marked their loss of the Twin Towers through two sets of high powered spot lights shinning up in the sky. Seen here from Brooklyn with the famous Brooklyn Bridge in the foreground. I was hoping to go up there and see it for myself, but it was too late to do that by the time I thought of it. Hopefully they'll do it again and I can get up there and see it first hand.

Nothing fantastically artsy here, since this early Saturday flickr friday is rushed. Lion's Gate Bridge in Vancouver, British Columbia. My buddy Duncan over at

There isn't anything impressive about this three reversible lane bridge, but the detail on the underneath of the deck is amazing. The photo was shot with a two minute exposure! Tomorrow you can look forward to a weekly feature called "flickr friday". Every Friday I'll post one of my favorite shots that I've found on flickr. It'll look similar to what I've done
here and
here. Flickr lets you make a template for blogging images from their site. I've fixed that all up and I'm satisfied that I'm ready for my first flickr friday which should be here very early this morning or late tomorrow night.
Leave comments if you have any photos to suggest and Please Enjoy!
